3.1.005 not applicable

3.1.009 The number of riders on track for any racing event shall in no case exceed 14.

3.2.001 Track competition shall be held in the categories as defined in article 1.1.036 where numbers warrant.

3.2.009 Riders shall wear numbers as instructed by the chief commissaire

3.2.015 Times shall be taken to the hundredth of a second wherever the time determines the result.

3.2.016 The starter, located on the track center, shall give the start by means of a whistle.  In cases where the start is to be taken from a starting block, the following procedure shall apply: a timing strip shall be placed just before of the front wheel of the bicycle when the bicycle is in the gate, and timing shall begin once the front wheel of the bicycle crosses the strip.  Once the bicycle has been fixed, a clock placed before the rider counts down the last 12 seconds before the start.

3.2.019 Stoppage of the race shall be indicated by a double whistle, except for the following races: kilometre and 500 meters time trial.

§2 and 3.2.031 All references to the “200 meters Time Trial” and the “200 meters line” in this section shall be replaced by the “1 lap Time Trial” and “finish line”

3.2.025 The rider shall build up speed over a distance of 3 laps

3.2.029  The sprint is a race between 2 to 4 riders over 5 laps.

3.2.035 Races shall be ridden over 5 laps.

3.2.039 The rider on the inside of the track, unless overtaken, shall lead for the first lap.  [the remainder of this article remains in effect.]

3.2.041 and 3.2.042 references to “the last 200 meters” are replaced by “the last lap.”

3.2.051 Cyclists compete at a fixed distance.  One rider starts at a time.  The winner is determined by recording the fastest time.

3.2.053 The races shall be ridden directly as a final.

3.2.072  The starter shall stop the race with a double whistle in the event of a false start.  A rider who causes two false starts shall be eliminated.

3.2.074 In the event of a mishap in the first lap, the race is stopped and the rider shall be permitted to ride again at the end of the competition.  In the event of a mishap after the first lap of the race the race is stopped and within 5 minutes the rider shall restart on the line of the last lap to be completed.

3.2.094 The starter shall stop the race for a false start by a double whistle, for example, one of the riders anticipates the start or if the rider on the inside of the track fails to take the lead.

3.2.144 The team sprint is a race where each team member leads for one lap.  The men event is run over three laps of a track by teams of three riders.  The women event is run over two laps of a track by teams of two riders.

3.2.145 The races shall be ridden directly as a final, with one team on the track at a time.

3.2.150  The start shall be taken at the pursuit start line.

3.2.157  The competition shall be held over 30 minutes + 10 laps for elite men and 20 minutes + 10 laps for junior men.

3.2.158 The two riders of each team shall wear identical jerseys which may be easily distinguished from the jerseys of competing teams

3.2.163  A first group of riders, formed of one rider of each team, take their places along the outside balustrade.  A second group of riders, formed of the other riders of each team, take their places along the opposite balustrade.  After one neutralized lap, a flying start shall be given to the first group of riders by means of a whistle.  During the neutralized lap, the second group of riders must remain motionless.

3.2.169  Should one of the riders suffer a mechanical incident, his team mate shall immediately take the team position in the race.  There shall be no neutralization.

3.2.170-3.2.171  Should a rider fall, the race shall be stopped and the commissaires shall determine the length of the interruption.  A new start shall be taken from the rail for the remainder of the time in the race and each team shall retain the laps won or lost at the moment of the fall.

3.2.176  Before the start the riders shall be lined up along the railings.

3.2.177  Riders overtaken by the main bunch may be pulled from the race at the discretion of the commissairs.

3.2.183  The race shall be stopped in case of a fall.  The commissaires shall decide whether a fresh start shall be given for the complete distance or for the part of the distance remaining to be ridden from the positions at the moment of the fall.

3.2.222  A sprint shall be run every third lap.  Each lap that precedes the sprint shall be indicated by a bell.

3.2.226  Riders suffering mishaps shall be eliminated.  In the case of a fall the race shall be stopped.  The remaining riders shall resume the race from the rail counting 3 laps to the first of the remaining number of sprints.  When less than 8 riders remain in the race, a rider suffering a mishap shall be placed last in his group, even if he does not cover the distance.

3.2.229  The “Six-Day Race” is a team race, each team comprising two or three riders who shall all wear identical jerseys, which may be easily distinguished from the jerseys of competing teams.

3.2.234  Should a mechanical mishap occur and be recognized as valid by the commissaires, the team shall be entitled to a 3 minute neutralization.  In the case of a mishap not recognized by the commissaires or an expiry of the neutralization, one of the team members shall resume the race from the position occupied at the moment of the mishap, failing which the team shall be penalized by the number of laps lost.  In the case of a fall, the race shall be stopped and the commissaires shall determine the length of the interruption.  A new start shall be taken from the rail for the remainder of the time in the race and each team shall retain the laps won or lost at the moment of the fall.  In case the fallen team mate is unable to rejoin the race, the remaining rider shall be entitled to continue.  The rider shall be allowed to go on relief in tandem with another team selected by the commissaires, during which time the lap gained by the field on the rider shall not be counted against the team.  However, articles 3.2.235 and 3.2.236 shall apply.

3.2.247  The omnium consists of five events which shall be held on one day in the following order:

1) one lap time trial (flying start)

2) 40 lap scratch race

3) Individual pursuit (3000 meters — 2000 meters for junior women — without finals, taking one rider at a time seeded from the overall ranking after the scratch race)

4) 60 lap points race

5) Kilometer time trial (500 meters for women — taking one rider at a time, seeded from the overall ranking after the points race)
