How Much does it Cost to Use the Track?

It currently costs about $8,500 per month to pay the rent and the bills at FCV, with costs being disproportionately heavy in the winter months, due to heating. Our principal sources of revenue are membership fees, donations, and race night admissions.

Our 2 month trial membership costs $100 and provides unlimited recreational riding for 8 weeks and your bike rental fees are waived. If you decide to take out a full membership at the end of the trial period, the $100 is discounted from your full membership fee. Also available are family memberships and velo kids memberships.

OCA Insurance

In order to ride at the Forest City Velodrome you must have 3rd party liability insurance. The FCV provides liability coverage for those coming to the track to take the track 1 course. Through funds provided by the Trillium Foundation, we are also to pay for liability coverage for velo kids. All others must purchase liability insurance through the Ontario Cycling Association. If you have a current Ontario Cycling Association race license, you have liability coverage. If you are currently a member of a cycling club that has affiliated with the Ontario Cycling Association, you also have liability coverage. In all other cases you must purchase Ontario Cycling Association liability coverage. Coverage runs from Jan.1 to Dec.31 and can be purchased at the track. You will receive an affiliation card that will exempt you from having to pay any further insurance fees should you join an OCA affiliated club or participate in an OCA event. Out-of-province riders must purchase an OCA citizen permit and show proof of extended health insurance before they can ride at the track.

Those taking out FCV memberships who already have OCA insurance through a race license, membership in an affiliated club, or citizen permit must submit a photocopy of their license, club membership card, or citizen permit. Unless that documentation is supplied they must pay the annual rider insurance fee.

Racer Insurance Coverage

Those intending to take out OCA race licenses pay for 3rd person liability coverage as a part of their application fee. If it is early in the year and your club has not affiliated yet, we ask that you complete your race license application at the tack and leave it and your fees with us. We will hold them for you until the end of February (earlier at your request) and submit them to the OCA at that time. In the meantime, you will be covered for liability. The OCA has assured us that it will not process license applications submitted through us until your club has affiliated.

You may pick up the 2011 OCA race license application materials on your first visit to the track in 2011.
